PRELATE of Methodist Church Nigeria, Most Rev. Samuel Chukwiemeka Uche, yesterday called on Nigerian politicians not to overheat the polity in the interest of peace and unity for a stronger Nigeria. - LAGOS

Speaking at its National Headquarters, Wesley House, Marina, Lagos while briefing newsmen on the state of the nation, the Prelate said:

“The presidential elections has come and gone but this should not make Nigeria crumble. Those who won should exhibit maturity and be magnanimous in victory. Anambra community celebrates mass return with pomp and pageantry “While those, who lost should accept defeat, either temporarily or permanently with patience and equanimity. No sacrifice including conceding defeat will be too much.

“Moreover, the winner of the current election has promised to run an inclusive government, which I understand to mean that even the opposition may be considered in forming the cabinet of the incoming government. “However, if anyone feels cheated, he or she can choose lawful means of realising his or her alleged stolen mandate without calling for war.”

Former South Korean president, Lee Myung Bak, granted bail

Former South Korean President, Lee Myung Bak, is set to be released from jail after he has been granted bail, local media reported.  Lee Myung Bak According to the Yonhap news agency, Lee, 77, who has been imprisoned on corruption charges since October, was granted bail by the Seoul High Court due to deteriorating health and other reasons.  He was handed a 15-year prison sentence for taking bribes while in office from 2008 to 2013.  READ ALSO: Israel ex-minister sentenced to 11 years for spying for Iran  The money came from the secret services, businesses and other organisations.
